After years of waiting, Rockstar has finally pulled back the curtain on Grand Theft Auto VI.

Released on August 27, 2026, GTA VI: An Extended Look delivers nearly 27 minutes of footage captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5, giving players their most substantial look yet at Rockstar’s next open-world blockbuster.

A Deeper Look at Vice City

The footage gives us a much better look at Vice City and the wider state of Leonida, showcasing everything from busy streets and nightlife to rural areas and coastal locations.

Rockstar is clearly pushing immersion further than previous entries, with highly detailed environments, more expressive characters and a world packed with activities.

Jason & Lucia Take Centre Stage

At the heart of GTA VI are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, whose relationship is central to the story.

The extended footage shows the pair working together through robberies, police chases and everyday life across Leonida. Players can also switch between the two protagonists during gameplay.

A Smarter Wanted System

Police encounters appear to have received a significant overhaul.

GTA VI introduces a Criminal Profile that tracks a player's behaviour, alongside a returning six-star Wanted system. Police can also use details such as clothing, vehicles and appearance when searching for suspects.

An Open World Built for Exploration

The Extended Look highlights just how much there is to do outside the main story.

From basketball, scuba diving and kayaking to hunting, working out and simply exploring Vice City, Rockstar appears to be building Leonida as a world that continues to feel alive even when players aren't following a mission.

November Can't Come Soon Enough

Grand Theft Auto VI is currently scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

After 13 years of waiting since GTA V, Rockstar has finally shown us what the next generation of Grand Theft Auto looks like.

And if the Extended Look is anything to go by, GTA VI could redefine the open-world genre once again.
